TIMS (Trekkers’ TIMS card : Information Management System) is a mandatory permit for trekkers in Nepal, designed to ensure their safety and manage trekking activities effectively.



1. Trekkers' Info Management System Card
The TIMS Card is generated to guarantee the safety of the trekkers and to keep an inventory of Nepali districts where trekkers are.

2. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)


The ACAP permit is needed to visit the Annapurna Conservation Area to maintain the area's biodiversity while providing money to support locally led conservation programs.

Important Notes:

Carry at least two passport-sized photocopies to present upon permit submission.
Keep your permit documents in secure locations because these documents have to be produced before checkpoints.
To obtain a TIMS Card and ACAP Permit to travel around the Annapurna area, you have to fulfill the following requirements:

Passport Photocopy: A clear
copy of your passport.

Two passport-sized pictures are needed during the process.

Permit Application Form: Available in the Kathmandu and Pokhara offices of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

2. Where to Get Permits
You can obtain a TIMS card and ACAP permit by: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB): Kathmandu or Pokhara

3. Authorized Trekking Company Requirement
As per present rules in practice, independent travelers can no longer visit restricted areas unless in the presence of an organizer. We recommend getting your TIMS Card through an organized trek agency to get: Proper documentation Trekker safety Easy permit processing If you're part of the hike with an accredited guide, an agency arranging the hike will have an application ready for you. Always keep a photocopy of your passport & permit(s) with yourself during trekking because, on the ABC trail, there are multiple checkpoints in between.
