The Annapurna Base Camp trek 5 days is perfect for those who want to experience a short but whole trek in the Himalayas. The trek passes through diverse topographies, ranging from green rhododendron forests and waterfalls to glaciers and alpine meadows. Though shorter than other treks, it offers breathtaking views of Annapurna I (8,091m), Machapuchare (6,993m), Hiunchuli, and other giant peaks.

Many trekkers wonder if completing the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek in just 5 days is possible. The answer is yes, but it requires good physical condition and efficient planning. The traditional ABC trek typically takes 7-10 days, but the 5-day itinerary condenses the experience for those with time constraints. This shorter trek involves longer daily hiking distances (6–8 hours per day) and less acclimatization time, so proper preparation is essential.

This is a good walkthrough of lovely Gurung village with the opportunity to see Nepal’s rich hill culture. The trek is through green bamboo forests at lower elevations up to high elevations, through spectacular gorges, and over stunning scenery at high elevations. The trek’s highlight includes Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m), with you being surrounded by a stunning 360-degree view of the Annapurna range covered with snow.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek 5 Days is designed for physically fit people who can walk longer hours a day. Though a normal Annapurna Base Camp trekking tour can take 7-10 days, this shorter trek is very good enough for time-constrained trekkers who have a keen desire to see the Himalayas. The trek is challenging but very rewarding, with good-quality teahouse lodges and spicy local cuisine to be found on route.

For those inquiring regarding the cost of Annapurna Base Camp Trek 5 Days, prices vary with permits, accommodation, meals, guide/porter fees, and transportation. The average can range between $300–$500 and that of a guided tour package is $600–$900. The best time to undertake this trek is spring (March to May) and fall (September to November), with weather conditions that allow clear skies and the best scenery. Whether you’re an experienced trekker or a traveler looking for a brief but unforgettable Himalayan encounter, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek 5 days promises you breathtaking scenery, people-to-people encounters, and a lasting feeling of satisfaction.

Short Annapurna base camp trek details Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Nayapul(1070m) and Kimche(1640m). Trek to Chomrong (2170 m).

Your journey starts with a two- to three-hour drive from Pokhara to Kimrong in the early morning, which winds through scenic valleys. After arriving at Kimrong at 1,880 m, you will begin your journey through small villages and terraced farmlands before progressively climbing to Chomrong at 2,170 m. Hiking along well-maintained paths through rhododendron forests for three to four hours gives you your first views of the magnificent Machapuchare (Fishtail Mountain). With breathtaking sunset views over the Annapurna range, Chomrong, which is perched on a hillside, greets you with teahouse accommodations and your first night's sleep in the mountains.

Day 2: Chomrong to Himalaya Hotel (2920 m).

You will descend a lengthy stone after breakfast in Chomrong. After crossing the Chomrong Khola (river) via a lengthy stone staircase, you will ascend to Sinuwa. After passing through Bamboo village and Dovan, the trail continues through progressively thicker rhododendron and bamboo forests. The 6-7 hour hike today leads you farther into the Modi Khola valley, where the terrain gets more alpine as you ascend higher. By late afternoon, you will arrive at the 2,920-meter-high Himalayan Hotel, which is tucked away in a small valley with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and the sound of rushing glacial waters.

Day 3 :Journey to Annapurna Base Camp from the Himalayan Hotel

You are climbing to the peak of the trek today. As you leave the Himalayan Hotel early, you'll pass Deurali and Hinku Cave as the scenery changes from forests to rocky terrain and alpine meadows. At 3,700m, you'll arrive at Machapuchare Base Camp, where you'll pause to acclimate and enjoy the breathtaking views before the air becomes noticeably thinner. At 4,130 meters, the last stretch to Annapurna Base Camp offers a surreal view as you enter a natural amphitheater encircled by the Annapurna mountain range. You have more time to explore the area and take in the breathtaking sunset that turns the snow-capped peaks pink and golden if you arrive by mid-afternoon.

Day 4 : Trek Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo

Rise early to view the great sunrise over the Annapurna range magical moment when the first ray touches the mighty peaks. After breakfast descend back through Deurali and Machapuchere Base Camp. The descent takes about five to six hours into Bamboo, giving magnificently enjoyable views on the way. The descent of two vertical kilometers is very gentler on the lungs but punishing on the knees due to the rapid loss of altitude. Loosen up by the dramatic high alp scenery, which sweeps down to lush as you make your way to Bamboo at 2310m late by afternoon for an overnight stay at a tea house embraced by thick forest again.

Day 5 : Trek Bamboo-Kimrong via Jhinudanda, Drive to Pokhara.

The last day of trekking begins with continued descending through the bamboo forest and terraced hillsides. A highlight is an ample stop at Jhinudanda: famous for its natural hot springs where you can soak all the tired muscles in healing water with mountain views as your backdrop. After that uplifting break, finish the trek to Kimrong and reach there in early afternoon. The car would already be waiting for you to take you first to Nayapul and then back to Pokhara to fully conclude the trip that early in the evening with memories and pictures from one of the most stunning mountain regions in the world.
